Mean Streets / Week End / Coast Guard / Tron

Mean Streets (1973) ★★★

In countless ways, right down to the detail of modern TV crime shows, Mean Streets is one of the source points of modern movies.
-Robert Egbert

Week End (1967) ★★★

Godard confronts us with his vision of the self-indulgent, materialistic, and dehumanised people we have supposedly become. However, ultimately his vision is optimistic. Consumerism is unsustainable and those who follow its path will perish, thus humanism will prevail.
-Daniel Tapper, Guardian

Hae anseon (2002) ★★ [The Coast Guard]

A beautiful and powerful movie dealing with the absurdities of borders and conflicts between countries. It also takes a satirical dig at the atrocities committed by army men.

TRON (1982) ★

Tron received nominations for Best Costume Design and Best Sound at the 55th Academy Awards, and received the Academy Award for Technical Achievement 14 years later. Over time, Tron developed into a cult film and eventually spawned into a franchise, which consists of multiple video games, comic books and an animated television series. A sequel titled Tron: Legacy was directed by Joseph Kosinski and was released in 2010
